default Crackling Sunspot Cometh / Solar Watch May 28, 2011

INTENSIFYING SOLAR ACTIVITY: A new sunspot is emerging over the sun's southeastern limb and it is crackling with C-class solar flares, including a C2-flare at 1446 UT, a C6-flare at 1643 UT and a C8.3-flare at 0304 UT the following morning . So far none of the blasts has been geoeffective. The emergence of this new active region interrupts more than two weeks of relative quiet. can we nuke the sun?

  2. DarkestJesus

    is this bad?

  3. KimIsIll

    @calixtesaint top comment :-D

  4. SolarWatcher

    @dfhohj sunspot numbers available from solarmonitor website, link in the description box

  5. calixtesaint

    Wow-activity has surely increased.
    Sending positive energy to all in these coming days!

  6. dfhohj

    i understand there being a increase in sun spots as of 5/28/11 can anyone confirm ?

    …hope you are ok with having a link to this outstanding edutainment production on screen with my latest wide spectrum edutainment broadcast most respected “solarmate”; as well as linked in under the SHOW MORE button below the view screen ?
    ~for such great works as these require much more than just bulletining out to my network of friends and subscribers as does your stunningly bright example of what must be known for the sake of all making better informed decisions in the times before us all

    @SolarWatcher Lots of work! I can only imagine how much work you put into doing space weather forecasts, even while the sun is displaying low TSI etc. In the weakest of solar displays there is lots to be said. I look forward to hearing more from your site. ;)

    This month was good for myself to catchup on March and April. April was quite interesting with the long reach of radiant solar fields. Lots of sunspots this month, eh. :)

  9. TruthSolace

    You could be the coolest guy- watching the hottest thing on Youtube. ;)

  10. SolarWatcher

    @solarcradle apparently the sun was hibernating for most of May, looks like things are going to step up a few notches based on the G2-Class geomagnetic storm today and new active region making its mark and growing rapidly, have not heard much on the thermo-sphere that would be considered reliable information from anyone as yet.

  11. solarcradle

    Are you busy enough over there? :D Nice comment about the protective sunshine and “magnetic reversal.” Have you heard any news about whether our thermosphere has stopped contracting/shrinking? … now that our sun is out of a deep sleep?

  12. dragnet53

    @SolarWatcher

    So something is causing the sun to basically have a bad case of gas?

  13. romo502

    @SolarWatcher I share your view. Wow, it did shake it!!

  14. COUNTCARDULAR

    @SolarWatcher thanks yes im thinking it looks liek a magneitc pole flip and not a physical shift, i thought the same thing too about a direct hit from a big CME, in fact i thought it may be beneficial in some respect, maybe it could help us with the fukushima issue via a change in decay rates or some sort of clensing effect.

    the magnetic changes might help us all with a fresh start all new electrics ect and void all the nasty stuff we have had made on our behalf like military and weapon tech.

  15. romo502

    @SolarWatcher I share your view.

  16. rosiebgocats1

    Thanx Joe, look forward to your updates : )

  17. izzysmart

    Thanks for the update

  18. SolarWatcher

    @COUNTCARDULAR a weakened magnetosphere means we would be susceptible to much more solar disturbances, the mega cme scenario i do not believe in, what comes from the sun is not going to harm the earth as the sun is the protector. There is a strong case for a magnetic pole reversal not to be confused with a physical pole reversal.

    Thanks solar.. great up to date info.. be well

    This is the beginning of REDUCING THE POPULATION of the planet. So many victims of Weather Manipulation Weapons of Mass Destruction across the planet. I send prayers to those who know what is coming and prayers to those who know not what they do! This will become a global superstorm that is manufactured to cleanse the earth of 90% of its population.!

  21. COUNTCARDULAR

    most warfare is electronic now it seems , universe may force peace on earth via our star sol :)

  22. COUNTCARDULAR

    do you have an opinion on what could happen when our megnetosphere weakens to near zero, and is this part of the process we are seeing now with megnetic north moving quite fast towards russia. im wondering if we get a coincidence of the expected mega cme and the supposed magnetic flip?

  23. suedeu02

    Cheers

  24. BookOfActsRevival

    good stuff joe!

  25. SolarWatcher

    @AbhishekDEXTER this could indicate seismic activity under that region receiving the ionospheric anomalies, a geomagnetic storm is also a possibility which is a strong indicator of a significant solar/earth disturbance.
